| Stella Lee (Andrews) Nickle September 10, 1897 – October 4, 1991 General Education (all basic subjects) Tenure: 1913-1914 |
| Born September 10, 1892 in Haynes, Lee County, Arkansas, Daughter of Stephen Lafayette Andrews and Mary Eliza (Davis) Andrews. Miss Andrews, the second teacher to be hired for the newly formed school, moved to Hughes in 1913, replacing the first teacher Miss Ernestine Vance. She was married Christmas Day 1914 to school board president Robert C. Nickle. She and Mr. Nickle became the parents of HHS graduates Mary F., Amanda, Robert, Clifton, and Ann. The Nickle family maintained an association with HHS for many years. Son Clifton replaced his father on the Hughes School Board in the early 1950’s and daughter Ann married in 1951 to HHS teacher Rodney Tillman. Mrs. Nickle died October 4, 1991 in Memphis, interment in Forrest Park Cemetery, Forrest City, St. Francis County, Arkansas. |
