| Shirley Ann (Spencer) Stone June 6,1935 – May 28, 2010 Public School Music Tenure: 1957-‘59 |
| Miss Spencer was born June 6, 1935 at Harrisburg, Poinsett County, Arkansas, daughter of James Spencer and Nora (Jacobs) Spencer. She received her BME at Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas), Conway, and subsequently taught public school music at HHS for two years. She moved from Hughes to Jonesboro, where she was a music teacher and counselor for more than thirty years, during which time she expanded her education at Arkansas State University and Northwestern University. It was while living in Jonesboro that she met and married Ivan R. Stone. Mrs. Stone and her family were members of the First United Methodist of Jonesboro. After retirement, she moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to be with her daughter, Julie. She died in Ann Arbor on May 28, 2010. |
