Mrs. Thielman was born December 4, 1936 at Lake Village, Arkansas, daughter of Paul L. and Lola Aline
(Wiygul) Bryant. She attended Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway (later University of Central
Arkansas), where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority, and where she met her future husband,
Ronald Thielman, who also served on faculty with her as the HHS band director. The Thielmans first
taught in the bootheel of Missouri before moving to Hughes. They taught subsequent years in
Marianna, Arkansas, Oxford, Mississippi, and finally in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Mrs Thielman retired
from Old Mesilla Elementary School in Las Cruces and moved to Farmington, New Mexico. She was an
avid sports fan (her track team at Old Mesilla never lost a meet), and she possessed an unsurpassed
expertise in the matter of football. In addition, she was a passionate bridge player, loved the theater,
and served as substitute teacher for many years in many of the area schools. Mrs. Thielman passed
away on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the San Juan Regional Medical in Farmington.
