| Lorine Baker was born July 30 1899 in Izard County, Arkansas, daughter of William Edward Baker and Augusta “Gussie” (Handley) Baker. She married Rudolph Suddeth Jett 15 Aug 1917 in Saline County, Arkansas, and by 1930 she was teaching elementary grades in Batesville, Arkansas, a position she held through the 1940’s. She appears in the 1951 Blue Devil Yearbook as a sixth grade teacher (she possibly joined the HHS Faculty before that year, but the lack of pre-1951 annuals prevents us from knowing when she actually became a teacher at Hughes) . The following year, Mrs. Jett returned to Batesville, where she married her second husband Benjamin H. Pierce. She died there on 18 Nov 1996, burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, Batesville. |
