Ethel K. (Lewis) Kimbel

Miss Lewis was born in St. Francis County, Arkansas, to Pete and Vena Lewis. She attended Arkansas
State College in Jonesboro, graduating with a B.S.E. Degree in 1949, after which she accepted a
position teaching 5th grade for the Hughes School System. Miss Lewis married in 1952 to Hurshel B.
Kimbel, and she commuted to work from their home in Forrest City. While teaching at Hughes, she did
additional degree work at Arkansas State College, graduating in 1961. After retirement and the death
of her husband, Mrs. Kimbel sold her home and moved to Colorado to live with her sister. She died
there on October 16, 1996, burial in the Olinger Highland Cemetery, Thornton, Adams County,
Colorado.
