| Donald O’Neal Meador December 20, 1921 – April 19, 2005 Coach, Math Tenure: 1952-1963 |
| Coach Meador was born December 20, 1921, at Arkadelphia, Clark County, Arkansas, son of Eugene and Annette (O.Neal) Meador, and he married Jane Annette Webster on December 22, 1947 in North Little Rock. He received the A.B. Degree from Quachita College in Arkadelphia and the M.B.A. Degree from Memphis State University. He served as coach and math instructor at Hughes High School from the ’52-’53 school year until 1963, during which time he brought the Blue Devil football team to championship status, winning many district and state honors. He is equally known and appreciated for his devotion as a math teacher and genuine concern for his students. Coach Meador and his family left Hughes in 1963, taking up residence in Houston, Texas, where he taught at Lamar High School, from where he retired in 1984. He was a member in the Houston First United Methodist Church, the Spring Woods United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, and he served as a volunteer at the Houston Northwest Medical Center. He and Mrs. Meador were also HHS Parents to son Dickie Don, who graduated from Lamar High School in 1967. Mrs. Meador died December 30, 1984, and Coach Meador married Ida Corrine Hartman on February 15, 1986. He passed away April 19, 2005. |
