| Betty Nicholson Doty was born on May 7, 1934 in Newport, AR to the late Sam and Edith Nicholson. Upon graduation from Newport High school in 1952, Mrs. Doty furthered her education at Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA) with a degree in education. Mrs. Doty came to the Hughes School in 1960 as Jr. High librarian with her husband George Doty who later became superintendant of the Hughes School System. Their son Brad is a 1985 graduate of the Hughes School. After leaving the Hughes School in 1985 Mrs. Doty made her home in Conway, Arkansas where she enjoyed reading multiple newspaper publications, cooking, her beloved whippet Jake, and spending time with her family. |
